tournament, the first of its’ kind for KBR, was hosted by the “Fish
Sniffer.” The event was very successful.

and 3rd Prize $300. Big Fish was $100. Donny Young and Michael
Goodwin came in first place with a 3 fish weight of 11 lbs. 5.5 oz. Dave Bates
and Robert Mansor came in second plus caught the big fish of the day at 4 lbs.,
11 oz. They missed first place by one half oz. Go Fishing.com donated gift
certificates and Steve’s Bait Shack from Merced
donated baits for the tournament anglers.
Member’s
Clinic on June 22nd - KBR will be holding a
Member’s Clinic, hosted by Boats Unlimited and their pro staff, to help members
fish the ranch during the aquatic weed season. This will be an all day event
with several activities planned. Members will receive instructions on how to
catch the big ones and deal with the weeds too. The mechanical weed sweep and
the Mud Buddy out board motor will be demonstrated as well, for cutting areas
of aquatic growth down so a boat can go through the thicker weed beds. Also on
the program is the second “Take
the Members to the Back Ponds Day”. This is to familiarize members with a second route back to the ponds
during the summer months to minimize the fire hazard in the big range. The
other item on the agenda is the KBR Little Fish Transplant
Program. For a limited time during the
summer, members will be asked to remove fish under 2 pounds from the lake and
place them in their live well. A tank will be place in a pickup at the boat
ramp for the members to place their small fish. We will then transplant these
fish into the smaller pond below the spillway to create an additional fishing
hole for the members next year. There will be a barbeque as well for all
attendees. Please RSVP.
Rescheduled
Members Tournament - The KBR Members Tournament, originally
scheduled for the 25th of May, has been tentatively scheduled for
the first weekend (Saturday the 5th) in October. My apologies to the
members who were looking forward to the event last May. A member’s committee
has been formed to put together the October event.
Let’s
Go Barbless - We encourage members and guests to go barbless. Next year
this may become a new regulation at KBR.
Waiting
List - The membership has risen to 45 members. We are keeping the
membership at this level. All new requests for membership are currently being
placed on a waiting list. KBR will be calling members to ask if they are
intending to renew to help with these requests.
Big
Fish - This year has been an 11.5 pounder caught by Joe Robinson last April. Of
course there have been several sightings of monsters breaking the water.
Thank
you very much.
